Software and Materials

The MMLL has a small collection of reference materials for the convenience of students and faculty working in the lab.  This collection includes dictionaries, grammar references, supplemental texts, and manuals for commonly-used software.  Videotapes of the current week's news in French and Spanish as well as course-related media placed on reserve by faculty are available at the language laboratory assistants' desk.

The audio-visual collection of the MMLL includes:

  • Course-related audio and video files that cannot be put on line because of copyright restrictions;
  • Audio and video materials for languages not taught by LAIS or MLC, including Swahili and Turkish.
  • Materials for self-directed study of French, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Auralog's Tell Me More software is available for self-directed study in Arabic, Chinese, and Japanese.  This software features voice recognition and a number of interactive tasks to enhance learning.  Software for the improvement of French pronunciation is also available.
